Jazz met pit viert 40 jaar Jazz Hoeilaart
A musical tribute. Albert Michiels started the ball rolling 40 years ago when he launched a jazz competition for young people in the Druivenstreek (Grape-growing region). The competition is now the world' s oldest and most illustrious one of its kind. The competition started in Hoeilaart and was then held in the Bosuil community centre for 30 years. The competition is now part of the Leuven Jazz: B-Jazz programme. The event is continuing to go from strength to strength.
Albert Michiels' grandson Peter Schneider plays percussions with Stan and Natalia. He is inviting various performers to help celebrate 40 years of Jazz Hoeilaart. The first winners open the festival with a 2.0 version. Sam Vloemans and his Cargo Mas often appear at the country's leading venues. They perform funky jazz grooves. Philippe Catherine is the emblem of modern jazz. His new trio will be the final act of the evening.
